Shock Absorbers and Struts
Are you looking for replacement shocks and struts to restore your vehicle to its original state? On the other hand, maybe you wish to make your vehicle better than it ever was by installing aftermarket shock absorbers or struts? Whatever it is you need, you will find it here. At Perform-Ex Auto, we have a large variety of rear and front shock absorbers and struts for many vehicle makes and models.
Better Handling, More Stability, and a Comfortable Ride
Whether navigating city streets or tackling rugged terrain, our shocks and struts will ensure your vehicle performs at its best. Why jeopardise comfort, stability, and handling when the solution is right before you? Enjoy a smooth ride while guaranteeing that your vehicle is as stable as it can be and that it handles with precision. Browse our collection of shocks and struts and find the ones you need.
What Do Shock Absorbers Do?
The purpose of shock absorbers is to control spring and suspension movement by absorbing kinetic energy. Shock absorbers convert the kinetic energy generated by motion into heat, which is dissipated. The result is that they minimise oscillation and maintain tyre contact with the road, thereby reducing the bounce, roll, sway, and brake dive of your vehicle. It’s important to note that shocks are independent parts of a suspension system.
What Do Struts Do?
Like shock absorbers, struts perform a dampening function and control spring and suspension movement, improving handling and braking, and reducing body roll, bounce, break dive, and acceleration squat. However, unlike shock absorbers, struts are a structural part of your suspension system. As such, they also provide structural support for the suspension system and contribute to tyre alignment.
Do You Need Shocks or Struts?
A vehicle may have either shock absorbers or struts on each wheel, never both. Thus, whether you need shocks or struts will depend on the configuration of your car and shocks can’t replace struts or vice versa. However, you can have front shock absorbers and rear struts or any other combination. To know which parts fit your vehicle, choose the make and model of your car on the bar you see on the left and you will see whether it has shocks or struts.
